Car Skin cleaning products review
My wife’s an avid blogger who reviews products from toys to women’s products. So when she was approached by Winning Formulas she got Mark and myself involved to review the Car-Skin car cleaning products.
With the Passat and Audi away and having bodywork done we decided to detail my used and abused 2009 Ford Focus company car. I inherited the company car this year with my new role and unfortunately the car hadn’t been well looked after. The paint work was in very bad condition with bird droppings being left on for weeks.
So after a wash we first went over the car with Car-Skin Deep Clean using our electric polisher. The Deep Clean took the tree resin and contaminates off making the paintwork feel clean and smooth. It also removed a lot of the light scratches and swirls in the paintwork. The product was easy to buff off leaving no residue or dust.
We followed this with a coat of the CS PRO advanced polymer polish by hand covering a panel at a time allowing a few minutes before buffing off. This made an amazing difference to the car which although being a black metallic had never truly sparkled. But after a coat of the CS PRO the paintwork sparkled and looked incredibly deep.
We then moved on the the interior using Car-Skin Glass and Interior. Both products worked really well but the Glass in particular was very good. I’ve always had issues with glass cleaners as many leave smears or residue that shows up a few days later. Car-Skin Glass removed the dirt from the window without leaving any smears and two weeks on the windows haven’t revealed and cloth marks or smears.
Over all the Car-Skin products work incredibly well breathing life back into very poor paintwork. I’m going to try them on the A3 over the next few weeks. Big thumbs up to Winning Formulas!

Ultimate Dubs has kicked off the 2011 show season and both Mark and myself had our cars inside. Mark’s Passat was sporting a complete face lift front and rear from last year, along with a complete trim by MJ Interiors and some rather sick Bentley Continental GT seats (I’ll get Mark to put up his build thread). My Audi had changed a lot from the standard car I picked up last year. It’s now murdered out sitting on 19″ Audi S6 rims using all oem parts (I’ll do a build post to). I also had a new interior done by MJ including Audi S5 bucket seats.
The show was a great opener to the season again lots of great new cars again a credit to the organisers.
Anyway here are my Ultimate Dubs 2011 pictures.

Now sold!

Well this year being the tenth anniversary of the Edition 38 show we decided to do the full weekend! We arrived in Northampton at around 5pm on the Friday and got onto the site very quickly. We were initially surprised at the price of £30 a person for the whole weekend but within a couple of hours we could see that security had been tightened and the fact that the whole area had been fenced off made you feel better about leaving the cars.
Regular security patrols of the campsite kept any incidence that we saw to a minimum. In fact the only issue we had was a bunch of max power Muppet’s parking in the quiet camping area and proceeding to play euro pop at full volume. I might be 37 but i like a bit of dance and drum and base but what these guys were playing made me cringe lol.
Friday night was a nice chilled night of beer mellow tunes and catching up with some friends. Saturday morning saw the start of the show and shine. Edition charged £5 to enter the show and shine which was a first for both Mark and myself but seeing the number of people who wanted to go on the field I can see what they were trying to do. I think we will see more charging to enter show and shine to keep the quality of the cars entering at a premium.
Mark took the Passat on stage during the day which was cool chatting about what he had done to the car and our other projects including my Sportback and our MK1 Polo. They announced Edition’s ten of the best around 5.30pm with two of our friends Ryan with his immaculate red VW Lupo and Nathan with his individual A3 Sportback on air ride walking away with prises!
Saturday night saw the surprise of Head Kandi DJing the main tent and they rocked it big style. We all managed a decent nights sleep that night. Sunday morning saw the main day of Edition 38 start with earnest. There was a queue to get in the show and shine at around 7am and by 9.55am they announced that no more cars could enter as the field was full. We chilled out during the day walking round the field chatting to people about their cars and taking loads of photo’s. Prises were again announced around the 5.30pm mark.
Although the cost to enter the show was expencive the overall vibe was very chilled and a credit to the guys that run it. I think they hit the nail on the head with the security and the overall quality of the services the toilets remained clean in the main and it was great to be able to grab a hot shower first thing in the mornings.
Edition 38 crew the show was a credit to you guy!!!
I’ve taken plenty of photo’s so enjoy!

Well time to offer thanks were it’s due. I popped in Stafford Audi yesterday as I had spotted a couple of issues while cleaning the Sportback. First was the off side rear door handle rattled and was loose. Secondly the off side front door had a part of the door trim snapped off.
From experience with with Volkswagen customer service I wasn’t expecting to get the issues fixed without an argument or paying something. We Audi your customer services are spot on! They took my keys gave me a drink and let me relax in the waiting area of the showroom while they checked out the car.
Next thing I know they inform me the door handle has been fixed, and the trim is on order. They will have the trim sprayed and will call me to arrange fitting. Top marks Audi I’m really impressed!

Spent last Saturday giving the Audi a good mop and detailing. The paintwork was swirly and had a lot of fine scratches. But a going over with the mop and the 3M finesse soon sorted that out. Then it was a all round with the pre-wax followed by a coat of Mark’s new wax which name has left me for a moment but its good stuff as you can see from the pictures.
Mark also fitted my S3 pedals and the rear wiper deletion bead. I’ve also fitted my RS4 gear knob which I’ve polished due to the scratches from the previous owner and my Audi TT Mark 2 air vents. The A3′s slowly getting there but it is going to be a long term project as I intend on keeping it for a good few years.
Still to fit is the RS6 steering wheel which I’m working on, and the R32 brakes which I need to get pads for. Still on the shopping list is Audi sat nav, arm rest, cruise control, air ride and some RS4 front seats which will need retrimming black and red to match the rest of the interior.
Oh and were off to the Detailed Show this weekend 1st August so if anyone reading this is there say hello!
