Audi A3 Sportback – The Phantom Menace

Audi A3 Sportback – The Phantom Menace

Well I’ve owned the Audi for just over six months so its time for an update on what’s been done to it.

So were do I start?

The exterior, I’ve been hoarding parts for at least six months before I brought the Audi. Included amongst these was a set of Audi S3 Sportback side skirts and rear valance. I wanted to make the A3 look more aggressive but not make it look like an Audi S3 so I decided to keep the S Line front bumper but changed the grill for a black optics S Line grill with a plate filler from the states. The rear S3 valance I decided I didn’t want the standard silver grey so had Autovogue who did all the bodywork spray it body colour. Finally to update the rear of the car I’ve installed 2009 A3 Sportback rear led lights as I think they look so cool at night, to do this I used a Kufatec adaptor which you then have to program to get the reverse and fog lights working.

The cars now sitting 60mm lower on KW V3′s thanks to Jody at Midland VW. The wheels are original Audi S6 19″ x 9″ ET 52 all round wrapped in Falken 452 215/35/19 tires. I had to space the wheels out due to the et being so high on the S6 wheels I’ve used Forge 8mm spacers at the front and 13mm hubcentric spaces on the rear. I’m aiming to get it sitting lower for Early Edition in April.

For the interior I managed to pick up a set of Audi S5 seats very cheap on eBay they were in good condition but they didn’t match my existing red black Audi exclusive interior. So after speaking to a number of friends about trimmers I decided the guy to go to was Michael at MJ Interiors. I’d just seen pictures of the new Audi RS3 and the £5,000 optional extra interior you could specify with it and I had to have it! after numinous phone calls and emails I also brought a cloth Audi Sportback rear seat rather than have my existing leather back seat trimmed (my old interior will be up for sale soon). All I can say about my interior is Michael did a stunning job I’ve had fantastic feedback.

I’d also sourced a Audi RS6 steering wheel which I had installed while having cruise control fitted by Midland VW.

Anyway as the saying goes a picture says a thousand words so let me know your thoughts on my build so far!
